‘Great design begins with a simple idea and grows into a beautifully executed story.’
Where are you from?
Downtown Bairnsdale, Vic
What inspires you?
What doesn’t!? It’s easy to find inspiration in many places if your mind is open to finding it. Getting outside and going for a walk, travel, music, quiet time, art – even a drive through the tunnel gave me an idea for a project recently!
Lost in Translation. I loved the unique characters, storyline and cinematography. The ambience of the shots and soundtrack created a certain quietness throughout the film, referencing the feeling of isolation Bob (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) were experiencing. All this with a backdrop of the strange and wonderful Tokyo/Japan.
Favourite album cover?
Grace Jones Island Life. I just love the image of Jones posing like a statue in a museum, her body such a perfect specimen that it kind of looks artificial. It perfectly captures her style. Art director Jean-Paul Goude collaged the image from a variety of studio shots (in the pre-digital era!) And how can you not love “Pull up to the bumper”.
Favourite holiday destination?
I think it has to be Thailand. The food, weather, people, scenery and nostalgic value (I met my husband there in 2003)
What 6 people, living or dead, would you invite to a dinner party if you could?
Blondie, Germain Greer, Andy Warhol, Kenya Hara, Vivienne Westwood, Kurt Cobain,
Coffee or Tea?
Tea first up, coffee with brekkie
What are you most passionate about outside work?
Travel, design and family
